FSSAI (Foods Safety and Standards Authority of India) is an authority established under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 who issue Food License to food business operators. It is the highest authority which regulates food business all over India.  It is mandatory to get registered under FSSAI before starting any food business in India. Basically, it is a mandatory compliance which is required to be done by all forms of food business operators in India. It is a 14-digit registration or license number issued by respective department to Food Business Operator for ensuring the quality of food.

PROCEDURE TO APPLY FOR FSSAI REGISTRATION/LICENSE

  1. The very first step is to check the type of license/ certificate FBO is eligible to take on the FSSAI site.
  2. Register your Food Business Operators (FBO) by generating a Login ID and Password. SMS and E-mail will be forwarded confirming the successful sign-up.
  3. By using the Login ID, Fill all the information and upload the necessary documents (as applicable). These documents should be prepared by a professional for correctness.
  4. Once clicked on Save & Next it would redirect to the payment page and select the payment gateway it would redirect to the page for making final submission.
  5. Once the payment is successful FBO would have to upload the Form B (in case of Central or State License) and Form A (in case of basic license) and thereafter License/Registration application will be submitted successfully. An application will be forwarded to the respective Designated Officer.
  6. Designated Officer will review the application and may ask for any further document/information. After satisfying about the authenticity of all the documents and information, it shall issue Registration Certificate/License (as applicable).

What is the validity of FSSAI License or Registration??

FSSAI License minimum validity is one year which may be extended upto five years at the time of application or renewal.

What is the time limit for renewal of FSSAI License??

You have to apply for renewal 30 days prior to the date of expiry of license. Further, renewal fee is same as cost of fresh application.

Can I apply for renewal of license after the above-mentioned time period??

Yes, you can apply for FSSAI License after the expiry of time period as stated above but you have to pay certain amount of penalty.
